Hi, my name is Petal361! Looking for a lightweight car vacuum cleaner, any ideas?

I am a carer for my 88 year young mother in law who rightly so wants to be as independent as possible in her winter years. She is looking for a car vacuum cleaner that is easy to use, has good suction , is as light as possible and has an attachment that means she doesn't have to bend down too far. She is not good on her legs for very long and therefore these requirements are essential. You could ask why doesn't she get someone else to do this job, however, she likes to do it herself. To think that next year she will be 90 and still does some of the family farm administration. Not sure they make people like this one any more! Her previous vacuum broke and the company no longer exist. We have been looking for a replacement for what seems like eternity. My husband says that there hasn't been one made yet for his mother. Hopefully you can prove him wrong! Thank you all for your time.

Hi @Petal361, welcome to the community. I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions for this, but I hope our community members will be able to come up with something suitable! Just wanted to pop in to say hello and welcome you ☺️ I've added the topic of your discussion into the title so that more members can find it.

Hope you can find some good suggestions!

There's someone on here called @OverlyAnxious who has worked his way through his share of lightweight (and not so lightweight) vacuum cleaners so I reckon he will be able to advise you now I tagged him 😊

I agree with the first post that there isn't a product on the market meeting all of your requirements.

I have two lightweight vacuums myself. One for indoors which is fairly light, has excellent suction and long reach tools, but it is too bulky to manoeuvre inside a car and needs to be plugged into the mains. (Shark corded stick)

And another for the car which is very small and lightweight. It is cordless so does not require mains power. Suction isn't as good so you do need to give it a bit of agitation with the tools against the fabric to release dirt and dust which then gets sucked up well. There are also no long reach tools because they would not work with such a small appliance. So it does require a small amount of bending, but I find I can generally do seats while sitting in other seats, and do the floor in front of the seat I'm sitting in. Might not work for everyone but that is my method.

There are many similar ones on Amazon. I paid £20 for this one a couple of years ago.
