Helping people here is something I enjoy, it gives me purpose and I feel useful, it also passes the time in a good way.

I always come back here. This is possibly my 3rd time of coming back. I've been through psychiatric hell and back. Folks, here, have always helped, where they can. I would've liked forming friendships, here…phone friendships, also, in fact, eventually. Like the song says people who need people are the luckiest people in the world!

I believe that it's impossible to fix yourself, psychiatrically. Without other people being involved, I honestly believe that it can't be done. Humans are social animals and it's sometimes abnormal, I think, to be without company while going through mental health stormy waters - and, I've spent 55 years, on and off, doing that. It's most often been through other people that I've found some form of solace, or quiet, or at least something, one day, to look forward to.

Without such forums as this, a huge number of psychiatric cases will simply not make it, without corrective influences and support around them, in contact with them!

That's so insightful @IanHaines, thank you so much for sharing your experience. Our aim is to bring people together to share similar experiences, or just to chat about the weather! I'm so happy to hear that people here have helped you and I hope you keep coming back to us.

So much I came on like a bull in China shop following no rules guidelines I felt awful for my behaviour and was given a chance by albus and racheal Holly ive always been out spoken but being on this group has really made me look at myself my actions how they effect others and over time and growing to really like being apart of scope taught me not to be so reactive and that is priceless because years of therapy never did ps also everyone's support and really taking time to help when panic strikes also being dyslexic and still feeling apart of the group means alot scope has really really really helped me over this last year for that I am truly grateful πŸ™

Supporting other members where I can and encouraging them to join in helps me with my own self worth.

Reading other members stories makes me realise we all have daily challenges that we all deal with in our own ways.

It's really lovely reading this feedback. I know I work for Scope, but can't deny the positive impact the community has had on me personally too. πŸ’œ

As a parent of to adult children with Autism and other difficulties it's amazing having somewhere like scope that you can go to for extra support. Everyone I have interacted with on here, sometimes at my lowest point of trying to support my children have been lovely. My children's lives are not what I envisaged for them but having people like you lot here make it a little easier, especially carrying the load of 3 peoples hopes, worries and fears.

Yes it has. There's people here who genuinely understand where you're at. Case in point. I have a great pal who loves the cold, ,rainy weather and can't understand why the weather he loves causes someone like me to hate it. I hope he never ends up with like me ( chronic pain). Maybe then he might? I reckon I could mention here about how bad their joints are at the moment and there'd be folk nodding in agreement. Got to live with it to understand it

I have had help from the Scope Community forum, most recently when I asked for suggestions for a one-handed floor mop! I received all sorts of suggestions for that, including a suggested new vocation for me as a street cleaner! 🀣

I received loads of useful info that let me find exactly what I wanted, and saved me money too. And also gave me a good laugh that lasted all day! I think this forum is great. 😁
