My husband has just received his mobility car. He is a triple amputee and the one good arm he has he tore his rotator cuff and it is not as strong as it was. He has been used to getting large 8 seaters as these were easier to get in and out of and drive . He ended up with the Renault 9 seater as this was the only one available on the scheme, we had been all over the Renault dealers within a 30 mile radius but no one could show him one . He has taken it but cant really use it without it causing him pain as it is much bigger than any he has had previously he's having to pull himself into it with his arm that is injured and he's having to slide out of it and this is jarring and causing pain to his stumps. He paid a lot of money for the deposit and is wondering if motability will let him give it back and reorder if so would he get his deposit back . Has anyone had anything similar to this. Any information would be gratefully received. Thanks

    Hi,

Motability are generally quite accommodating for this sort of thing so you should contact them as soon as possible.

There is an early termination fee of £250.

And some of the deposit will be retained as well. That gets refunded on a pro-rata basis so you should get most of it returned as you haven't had the vehicle for long.

If possible, try to find a more suitable vehicle on the scheme first, otherwise you could end up without any transport at all, unless you have another vehicle to use in the meantime.

I must have handed back at least 4 vehicles early, the last one after only 7 months, and never had to pay the termination fee. They waived it each time.
