Ceasing DWP
Hi, if I phone up and ask for my ESA benefit to be ceased what questions are they likely to ask?
Thanks.

They will likely ask you for your National Insurance number to verify your identity, and then ask why you want to stop the benefit, and for what date you want it to end. They will also ask about any new income, savings, or if you plan to start work, and confirm the effective date for the cessation of your payments.
Apart from knowing whether you would be planning to start work, they don't really care whether you would be even planning to give up your current home and start living on the street.
You're not obligated to provide the reason why or the purpose for which you want to cease your ESA. If you want, you can simply say, it's personal.
Make you sure you get a written confirmation and keep it with you, by the way. I would rather pop in my local jobcentre, or may I say hassle centre, and speak to them face-to-face.
The title of your thread needs to be amended, by the way, as your thread has nothing to do with ceasing or bringing the damn DWP to an end.

Thanks. Sorry not able to edit the title as far as I can see.

I wouldn't worry about it, we knew what you meant!
