While I never normally agree with any decision our government makes, I do believe you shouldnt be able to get luxery or expensive cars on motorbility (Unless there are exceptional circumstances for instance your condition only means a certain vehicle is suitable)
But currently I do see motorbility does get abused alot, which in turn ruins it for genuine parties.

This depends on what their definition of LUXURY car means ?
If it means "the automatic version" - which tends to mean the higher spec version of a car - then NO.
Because many disabled drivers (myself included) have switched to automatics from manuals from necessity - and this will cut down our choice of cars dramatically.
OK Lexus, Merc, Audi, BMW and AlfaRomeo have been removed - but Volvo is still available !!

yes it would be good to have that broken down….see what this actually means in terms of what they class as a luxury.

I found this from motility. Sone of it seems fair enough. They’ve cut convertibles which is reasonable.
But they want people to use British cars which is a nice idea but when you’re looking for a car as a disabled driver, the nationality of a car is the last of your priorities!! seems like they’re using disabled drivers to boost their economic rhetoric which is pretty shameful!

British cars - doesn't leave many options - does it ?
Mini Coopers - hardly a disabled friendly car - can't even get a folded up wheelchair in one
Nissan Juke / Qashqai
Suzuki Swace
Toyota Auris, Auris Hybrid and Avensis
And that's it - of "normal" cars !
Apart from Ariel Atoms, Lotus etc and such and of course Rolls Royce !!

I'm not sure I understand the issue with there being luxury cars available to motability users.
I don't think I even understand how it can be claimed that people can abuse Motability. You only qualify if you meet the PIP criteria, and then your money is used towards the car. So anyone saying they shouldn't have a Motability car, sounds like they're saying they shouldn't qualify for mobility PIP.
Why should we not get a choice of car because we're disabled? People forget it's the claimants; money and they should get to choose how they use it.
It sounds like soon enough we'll be able to identify those using Motability cars by what type of car a person drives, which is dangerous in itself and highlights a person as disabled and vulnerable.

Motability is obviously changing this policy purely because of the ableist moral panic neoliberal politicians and media rags have perpetrated towards them for months. Anyone who believes otherwise is clearly not paying attention.
The fact of the matter is the design of some of the "luxury" cars have vital accessibility needs that are almost impossible to find on other vehicles, most notably their height. Because many disabled people cannot get in and out of low level cars independently.
There won't be any exemptions, and if there are, they'll be so full of holes, they'll be almost impossible to utilise. Neoliberal slaves to capital (like Rachel Reeves) and related eugenicists alike won't permit it. They would rather disabled people not exist.
Also the 2nd paragraph is a classic example of the mental gymnastics government ministers and the ableist public alike use to justify cuts to disability benefits.

It wasn't to fuel abilism or to agree with any government. Just simply I have personally seen motorbility being abused. I know a few people who abuse it. One person I know rents their motorbility car to someone for a few months when they can't use it. Also I have known people and instances whereby people only apply for PIP just for the motorbility element so they can get a new car.

I don't even drive, But absolutely sick of healthy people spreading their hateful dross I popped on to two social media sites to edit and make some posts for my radio station (don't have personal social media atm) and on both the first thing that popped up was some vile rodent banging on about the disabled and motability.
The first "delight" suggested all those with a motorbility car should have scrounger painted on it, in which recovery in the bin replied with a word I'm not fond of but fits them well (although I think answering them is unwise)
on the other some other delight suggested blowing the cars up.
I am now going to send an email to the big players in government, making it clear they are to blame for this along with their msm friends
convincing clowns into blaming our community for their own problems, it's got to stop.

PIP fraud is so low that statistically it's considered to be non existent.
Any Motability fraud should be reported to Motability.

A neighbour of mine gets out his Motability car like greased lightning. It shouldn't irk me but it does.
