Re: Pip review completed; now getting enhanced DL - any backpay due?
Hello,
I posted in here a couple of years ago. In my current claim, which started in 2023, it was decided that I was entitled to enhanced mobility but not any daily living at all.
I have since had the review complete text message, and have gone onto the proof of benefits on the .gov website which tells me I now get both Enhanced DL and Enhanced Mob.
Am I due any backpay - the decision was made on the 21st November 2025, but I was sent the review form back in October/November 2024 and sent it off in January 2025.
I'm googling this but am getting all kinds of answers so any input is gratefully received!
Thanks.

Since its a review, the new entitlement is only applied once a decision is made. So there is no backpay due.

Thanks for this. I too am autistic so I got this completely wrong!!

No worries my fellow nuerodiverse, i'm also highly autistic but I'm like a sponge that keeps picking up knowledge on things.
Congratulations on your new award.

Yes, same here. Thanks, your congratulations are appreciated! 😎

You must of been blessed with an actual decision maker with feelings and compassion, traits rarely found in the DWP.

Mine has dragged on a bit (as I said, my forms were sent to me in October/November last year) and I handed them in to DWP in January. I guess it all depends on the decision maker. It does say on the letter tho that they decided I get enhanced on both from 21st November 2025 so I don’t hold out much hope.

My letter is one I downloaded from the gov uk proof of benefits site, not the letter you get sent in the post. I’ll wait to see what my award letter says. The one I downloaded is just proof I get pip so is worded differently.
Sorry I probably wasn’t clear about that before!

my review was paper based too.

One thing i've never understood with the system is why do you need reviews for lifelong chronic conditions. Yes my autism, adhd and schizophrenia is likely to be cured in 3 years…not.

Exactly!!!!

Slightly off-topic but I had not heard of immediate proof of benefits through the .Gov website before. Has taken some time to get through the security setup, but it is a much more effective system than requesting a letter to be posted through the general contact form. So thank you for posting that! 🙂

I believe it is a relatively new service.
I agree, a big improvement which is long overdue.

I rang the PIP helpline this morning and managed to clear it all up.
As previously mentioned, the decision on my new award was made on the 21st November 2025. On the 10th December, I'll be getting a shortfall amount between that date and the 10th, however that amount will likely go to Debt Management as I have old UC debts. Then every 4 weeks on a Wednesday I'll get the usual amount of enhanced DL. The enhanced MB goes on my car.
I'm glad I am now clear on what the score is! Thanks to all who responded. :-)
