Capability for Work Assessment in a wheelchair
Hi
I had my foot amputated in May, submitted my PIP claim and UC50, and am now starting to have my claims assessed by Capita and DWP. I have been asked to attend a Capability for Work assessment in person (in a wheelchair). My original assessment was supposed to have occured last week by phone but Capita cancelled it and have re-arranged this face-to-face assessment for which I will be in my wheelchair.
Why would Capita first arrange a phone assessment but then arrange a face-to-face assessment?
And what can I expect at this face-to-face assessment when I will be in my wheelchair?

maybe they think that it has grown back

Hi @Bailey2025, I'm not sure why they would change it to a face-to-face appointment but you can still request that you have a phone appointment instead. It might just be a case of them having to cancel your first appointment and then when they've created a new one it's defaulted to a face-to-face one.
They'll ask you about a typical day and what issues you have and go through the UC50 you completed.

I thought face to face was for all unless in exceptional circumstances? Both assessments I have had were face-to-face.

From what I can gather more face to face assessments are on the cards. Sure another member's assessment (PIP claimant) was changed to face to face by the assessment company too.

I agree with face to face assessment, but I also feel that those with lifelong and incurable disabilities should be granted an indefinite award.
