    Hi @Dambuster1963 because your wife is on PIP, you might be eligible to claim. You can find out more about eligibility here - Carer's Allowance: Eligibility - GOV.UK

    Sorry @Dambuster1963, just thought it might be helpful so I'd pass it on. I think it does depend on your individual circumstances and the financial difference.

    It might be worth having a look at a Benefits calculator that supports with change of circumstances. I have added links to a few below:

    You can also contact a local benefits adviser who can support with what you might be entitled to.

    Hi,

    We need to know exactly which benefits your wife is getting to confirm that she wouldn't lose anything. It's no good just guessing without checking. 'Disability Payment' is not an active benefit, so we need to know what you meant by that.

    @Dambuster1963

    Hello,

    To start with - yes, if you have no other income - you may be entitled to Carers Allowance.

    It will not affect your wifes PIP - That is paid, no matter what either you or she brings in………But it may affect any other benefits that you or your wife get.

    You say "I cannot go to work" - is that because of your caring for your wife ?

    No and yes my wife is to ill for not to have full time care from me but also I have diverticulitis flare up so sometimes I'm unable to work as I constantly need to use of a toilet so doesn't allow me to go far we don't get any other benefits that are means tested I am getting a small amount of a council pension and get half the rental from a property per month
