I have been oof work sick for 6 months. Recently my doctor signed me off for 6 months and my sick pay has run out. I have applied for ESA and universal credit. However universal credit are making me attend the job centre and asking what I’m doing to find work. Do I need to attend the job centre to sign on? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @richthedon and welcome to the community. Have you got a fit note from your GP and submitted this?

    Hi,

For Universal Credit, you will be classed as a Job Seeker until you complete a Work Capability Assessment.

You should explain to them that your health issues have prevented you from working recently and that you have applied for New Style ESA as well. If you get an understanding Work Coach, they should switch off your work search requirements for now.

You should either attend the appointment or contact them to explain why you aren't attending beforehand. I wouldn't recommend just ignoring it, as that can cause more problems.
