Appointees
I am an appointee for my child, I have a bank account for them but in my name, as appointee. What happens if I die, can I request that another family member has access to this account/becoming their appointee? I have looked into Deputyship but it is so expensive I’m not in a position to apply for this at present.

Hi @Jane26J and a warm welcome to the community from me!
When you die, the DWP must be notified as soon as possible and then another family member can become a new appointee, here is some more information on what happens when an appointee passes away that I hope will be helpful😊1 -
The bank account would be closed upon your death and the money would form part of your estate.
You should also make a will specifying that a sum of money equalling the closing balance is to be given to the new appointee for the use of your child.
