Three years of fit notes sent in to DWP - and no back date after assement.

Hello all.

I have been sending in fit notes for 3 years with no gap, and the assessment has been messed up 4+ times by the DWP -

I went for my assessment in December where by I was awarded LCWRA - and the lady that assessed me told me my payments would be backdated as she was aware i had been waiting 3 years for a face to face assessment.

There where complaints, and MPs contacted about the length of time I had been waiting for this assessment, and the can just kept getting kicked down the road. When i contacted citizens advice they actually couldn't believe it had taken as long it had taken - with proof that a phone assessment had been arranged early in 2024 and the DWP rang me at a time not stated on the letter, and did not even ring back. It was pretty wild I was suppsoed to be called at 11 in the morning they rung me at 9 one call and didnt ring back. Thats one of the examples (i obtained proof of this) of missed or not done assessments with no fault on my part.

Can you guys advise me on if this is correct (no backdate) or if i should pursue this.

Quite frustrating with my mental health dealing with this ATM.

Hi @emspea if you've got this proof and been submitting your fit notes, I would be tempted myself to begin a mandatory reconsideration to query this issue with back payment - especially with the feedback from Citizen's advice. However by requesting this, the full claim will be revisited in it's entirety.

You can request an MR specifically around the decision not to backdate payment, for UC WCA outcomes the whole award will not be revisited only the decision you have requested be reviewed.

Hi im in a similar situation, almost 3 years no assessment finally had it in november and still haven't been paid any backdate for those years. Its apparently with a decision maker but they cant tell me how long that will take to tell me of they will pay me any backdate and how much
