Hi Everyone, I'm Meenu and my husband Dheeraj , run a business. I’m currently applying for appealing a benefits claim and I’ve been told that a GP letter or medical report could help support my case. I just wanted to ask — how did you go about getting a GP letter for benefits?

Welcome to the forum. The best way is to ask at your GP surgery if a GP would write a supporting letter but there is often a cost to this request, so ask if a cost is applied and how much it would be before you agree to them writing a letter on your behalf. Also you may have to wait a while for a letter to be processed ususally about two - three weeks.

The benefits office will contact your Doctor if they require information from them and if you agree to it.

They usually ask claimants not to submit letters from their GPs
