UC Capital
Hi
Am struggling with UC capital.
Have asked on journal regarding a lump sum of £4,500 which won’t take me over the £6,000 savings limit. Will be spending the same day on debt. They request report COC and again when money spent then visit to job centre with statements.
I’m told on online forums to only report total in all accounts minus benefits for that month but UC won’t accept this and they want total in all accounts. I can’t get passed this and have my cheque to pay in but am withholding as can’t get clear advice.

Hi,
As long as your total will not be over £6000 on the final day of your Assessment Period then you do not need to report anything.
UC journal staff often give incorrect or inappropriate advice due to limited training. That is not the best place to ask for advice.
When you do update your savings on the final day of the AP, you should be entering the full account total. Not deducting the UC income from the total. (We now have proof of this directly from UC review staff).

My AP is 4-3. Could you advise when is the best day to deposit and do COC. This is the reply when I challenged the below £6,000.

I wouldn't do COC at all in this situation.
If you choose to update your savings then that should always be done on the final day of the AP. So the 3rd of any month in this case.
As long as the money is not in your account on the 3rd then there is nothing to report.
