Awarded by tribunal up to 16th April haven’t heard back

hi everyone

I was wondering if anyone can help me.
I did my review forms but handed them in late but always continuously told pip and asked them for extensions which they were completely ok with.
I haven’t heard from them but got this text in 6th Feb

We still have your PIP form and will be progressing your review as soon as we can. You may still need an assessment with a health professional. Your PIP will continue to be paid until we review your claim. You only need to contact us if your circumstances change.

I was awarded pip at tribunal a few years ago up until 16th April 2026 due to mental health reasons. Since then my mental health has worsened due to losing my daughter.
I’m not sure what I should do, should I call them up and check what’s happening

I haven’t got any text or anything and I’m too sad to even call up or do anything

Will they just stop the payments because I was awarded at tribunal

    Hi,

The process changed a few years ago, people who are awarded at tribunal also get extensions until the decision is made now. I can't recall seeing anyone's payments stop while waiting for the decision recently.

You can call them if you like, but they will most likely just say your forms are in the queue waiting to be seen.

I know it's easier said than done but I would just try to forget about it. If the payments do stop then you would have to call them up to get them reinstated. But I honestly do not expect that to happen.

I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. Coping with something so devastating while trying to manage a PIP review is incredibly hard, and it’s completely understandable that everything feels so overwhelming.

Personally, I don’t think you have anything to worry about regarding the message you received. The text you got is the standard one they send when a review is in the queue. Your award carries on while they make a new decision, even if the original award came from a tribunal. I have never known anyone’s payments stop when they returned their forms and received that message.

I think it’s just the DWP letting you know you have not been forgotten. When I had my last review a few years ago, I received that same message several times during the process, but my payments continued as normal until the review was completed.

Thank you so so much for your kind response! I’ll try not to think about it for a while. It’s just every time they message me I get really anxious and worried. I pray I see my daughter in heaven one day it’s been a hard few months and the grief has just never left me

I'm so sorry about your loss @ilovepink97. I can't imagine how difficult this is for you. Do you have support at home?

I can speak from personal experience that they will continue to pay you until they made their decision so please try not to worry.

I'm sorry your relationship has been affected. It's such a difficult time, so focus on healing and things will get better with time. Here are a couple of links to bereavement support which may be useful: https://www.cruse.org.uk/ Mind Bereavement.

Please reach out if you need more support and be kind to yourself.
