WCA

Hi everyone, I'm wanting others outlooks who have had experience with this before.

I had my WCA phone assessment two days ago and I'm really anxious about the outcome, especially as my PIP is currently going through appeal so I'm already quite stressed about the whole system.

The call was only around 20 minutes which has been worrying me.

I was asked about my work history and current situation. I explained I tried numerous jobs throughout the past year full time to part time to agency. All of which made my health worse and I couldn’t keep up with them. I'm currently signed up to an agency and have done one shift in the past few months, only on a minimal pain day decided on the day itself, which then caused maximum pain for the following four to five days.

She then asked about my condition, medication and migraines. I explained they're chronic and daily, never fully go away, I'm stuck in bed in a dark room with sunglasses on most of the time and anything triggers them worse including noise, light and movement. With body burning, shaking, nausea and head pain and dizziness as the symptoms I always have.

She then moved to daily living: cooking, washing, dressing, shopping and household tasks, all of which my flatmate does for me mostly.

Then back to going out, I said maybe once a week if I can, for a ten minute walk round the block which worsens symptoms afterwards.

She then went back to mental health and I disclosed daily thoughts of self harm to move the pain elsewhere, no suicidal thoughts, and that I've self referred to NHS talking therapy.

I submitted a detailed written form beforehand covering physical and mental health in a lot more depth.

I’m worried because I wasn’t with it during the call and feel I didn’t go into as much detail as I should’ve.

Has anyone had a similar experience? What was your outcome?

A short assessment is not unusual if the assesor feels you have reached either the LCW or LCWRA threshold.

Unlike PIP it would be a waste of time carrying on the assessment because once you've reached the threshold, there is no further gain.
