I first submitted sick notes on the 10th November 2025. I have continued to submit sick notes. I was awarded LCWRA on 6th February 2026. Could you tell me when I'll receive any extra financial help?

    Hi,

What dates do your Assessment Periods start and end?

Is this a new UC claim?

My UC claim goes back years. I had two heart attacks and my health is failing. I did not know about the LCWRA had been awarded as I had no letter. I've since found out. Thanks to this forum that I can get my benefit cap lifted too. Was just wondering how far back they will backdate the cap and my claim?

The benefit cap being lifted should be backdated to the date you submitted your first Fit Note.

LCWRA element itself has a waiting period of three full assessment periods before LCWRA is added to your payment. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

Did you have any gaps in your Fit Notes? It's the date that they are given to UC that counts, not the start date written on them. Any gaps can impact when UC count the waiting period as starting from.

If you have an online account for UC you'll know with regards to backpay for benefit cap & any LCWRA due as letters will be added to your Journal stating the amount owed due to underpayment.

With online UC claims no letters come through the post, they are all electronic and uploaded onto the Journal.

Thank you. Based on that info LCWRA should be included from your March/April AP, and first paid on 12th April*.

There will not be any backpay in this case as you were awarded within the 3 month waiting period.

    6 Nov - 5 Dec - Fit note provided
    6 Dec - 5 Jan - 1st wait period
    6 Jan - 5 Feb - 2nd wait period
    6 Feb - 5 Mar - 3rd Wait period
    6 Mar - 5 Apr - LCWRA included

(*12 April is a Sunday, so it will actually be paid 10th April instead just for that month.)

Will the LCWRA be backdated ?

LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

As OverlyAnxious advised, you aren't due any backpay as your decision was made during the waiting period.

I was awarded LCWRA according to my journal on the 6th February? Will it be backdated?

SSo That's 4 months waiting period then not 3.? I'm confused.

It's not counted in calendar months. It's based on Assessment periods.

The first period doesn't count because you submitted the fit note part way through.
