Disputing PIP award length….

Hi everyone :) Newbie here!

I think I have been treated unfairly and also I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the new DWP rules for review with ongoing conditions of a minimum 5 year award are to begin in April 2026.

My review should have been October 2026 but my review started in February 2026. Paper based assessment and I’ve just received the decision letter they have awarded me until September 2028. Possible review to start October 2027.

I have typed up the MR but I don’t know whether to send it because of the worry - I get enhanced on both components but it has taken me years to be successful, I was awarded before tribunal in 2024 for both although I had been in receipt of standard rate care for a few years.

I can’t decide whether to send it or just wait until next review and hope I get a minimum of 5 years if successful.

Has this happened to anyone else, does anyone have any advice?

At my last review I was given 4 years and I just couldn’t bear the thought of going through it all again so soon. I filled in the mandatory reconsideration form without much hope. I told them I agreed with the points I had been awarded but wanted to query the award length. I had evidence to say my condition is deemed permanent. They still looked at the whole award but luckily agreed with the points and gave me a 10 year award! I was pretty shocked but if you have evidence to back up your request it can be done. Good luck

    Thank you.

They have given me the same points as the appeal process it literally seems they have just copied and pasted.

If anything they do owe me points because I just scraped 13 points on daily living and my bathroom will be being redone because Ocupational Health have said my bath/shower isn’t suitable and it not safe for me to use and there’s nothing else they can offer so I have been referred to the Adaptions Team for a shower enclosure.

I just can’t lose my car.
