Just got message from UC about Rent Increase
Hello,
I wrote last week about rent increases on UC. I got a message this morning on my UC journal but my rent increases on 13th April so it won't let me complete it as it can't be a future date. It says is due to be completed by 30th April. I am anxious that the message will disappear by then and I will have to phone them. Is this normal? as I have to wait a week before I can update the to do.
Thank You for any replies

Hi,
It's not normal. For most people the rent increase will be today.
But as yours doesn't change until next week, you will have to wait until that date. 30th April is plenty of time, it shouldn't disappear before then.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I get 2 Rent Free Weeks a year week commencing the first Monday in April which is today and Christmas week as I am in Social Housing. It won't let me change it yet but thanks for the reassurance. If it disappears I will phone them next week. It is just my anxiety. I read things like I have until end of the month but still panic.

Why would they increase the rent on a Bank Holiday Monday when almost nobody's working?

It's the same day every year for social rent. The first Monday in April. This is also when benefits rates change, and the new financial/tax year starts.
This year it just happens to be a bank holiday by coincidence.

Easter changes every year, this year Easter Monday falls on the new tax year etc.
