VILE PIP review/assessment

Had the most awful review.

Honestly feel absolutely terrible.

  • the lady was so sharp,
  • not mental health aware
  • kept talking over everything
  • wouldn't let any explanation happen

Literally felt like she was there to tick a box and as soon as she had the answer she wanted to hear, she moved on. If 'no' was answered she would say 'why not' 'you mean you can't hand over money' 'surely you can pay by card or hand cash over' (we were trying to explain that although that could happen that it generally doesn't because of huge anxiety) but she wasn't interested at all

Sorry that happened to you @summersunflower, that sounds so upsetting. It's always tough to read that there are assessors out there who don't take care with people who are already struggling. It's true that they need to tick boxes and get certain information to assess the claim, but it's also important that they treat you with respect and listen to what you have to say about your conditions. I hope you're managing to take it easy and look after yourself afterwards.

If you'd like to make a complaint, there's some information about that here: https://www.turn2us.org.uk/get-support/information-for-your-situation/challenging-a-personal-independence-payment-pip-decision/complain-about-a-pip-decision

I think people cannot understand mental health issues.. the invisible barriers only the sufferer’s feel… are difficult to comprehend. That overwhelming anxiety.. mind racing, heart racing.. fight or flight mode triggered..

Sorry that you were not able to make them listen and care.

The best listeners are those that have witnessed or experienced those feelings.

    Best wishes.
