Overpayment
For some unknown reason, been overpaid. Dwp have not taken £605 from esa, but £166. I have put it on my journal last week, no reply from them. So the overpayment gone in. How do they take it back ? It would be the same for the 19th of this month. My rent is right amount. When do they actually sort this out . It is a worry

Hi,
You will have a choice of ways to pay it back. Either in small amounts over several months taken directly from your UC. Or you can make one lump sum payment via bank transfer to get it over with quickly.
As it was a bank holiday weekend they won't have had time to fix the system. We will just have to wait until they do fix it for now.
Your ESA deduction will be different from now on because the ESA payment has increased. I've calculated it to be around £632 instead of £609 but will need to see it the exact number on a statement after UC have fixed the system.

Thanks surely they would of done this before the uprate

The problem is that ESA and UC are completely separate. The ESA uprate happened last month which changes the deduction but that seems to have been calculated wrong by the UC system (possibly human input error). Then the UC uprating will happen this month which will change Transitional Protection but the overall payment should stay the same for most of us. So the statements will be a bit of a mess for a couple of months. I'm hoping it will all be sorted out by the June statement but obviously I have no control over that.

Really confused. The letter they sent said I owe £428.84 .assessment period 29March 26 to 28 April 26.but I get it twice a month. So how come I owe all that .shouldn't it be £200 something as my next payment not until 19.
The new revise statement they sent for May is £212 for 5th and 19th when it was £226 . And my esa is still 609
How do I pay online from my phone

I can't say how they've come up with those numbers without seeing the statements unfortunately.
You are right that you have only been overpaid half of the full months overpayment though. (Twice monthly payments cause confusion as the system is setup for once a month).
I am surprised the ESA deduction is still £609 though. I think they might still have got that wrong. If you look at the other elements, can you see where the extra money has been taken from? I'm guessing they've just adjusted your Transitional Protection instead of changing the ESA deduction.
If you have online banking then you can use that to make a bank transfer. The DWP debt management bank details should be on the letter.

Yes Tp is effected. What it is they are still going to pay me £426 in May 19 .I still pay back over 428. Which is the extra they have given me, for the 5th and 19th .As they only took £180 esa. And June hopefully goes back to normal. There are others this has happened too, as I'm in benefits and work forum.
I rang dwp debit management and they said ring next week as my details aren't with them yet, so I can't pay anything back
