Just had a phonecall from the PIP decision maker…

Hi, I am posting this to ask when I will receive back pay, as I’ve just had a phonecall from a guy from PIP who said I have qualified for PIP. He also said there would be a lump sum sent out, but said I forgot to add my bank details on my form. He told me to ring the number he gave me and tell them my bank details so that they can process the payment, which I have just done. My question is when is the payment calculated from? Is it from when I sent the form? (The form was sent on the 1/12/25.)
Also I forgot to ask what component I had qualified for or when I’d be paid etc… he asked if I am able to manage it as a lump sum, obviously I said yes.

So all this in mind Id just like to ask if anyone else has been in this situation and when can I expect to be paid? Will it be added onto my current UC payment which is fortnightly? And when can I expect this ‘lump sum’ to go in my bank?

Thanks…

    Hi,

PIP is completely separate to UC. They are not linked at all.

Your PIP will start being paid every 4 weeks. It will not be on the same days as your UC.

I have had 2 back-payments from PIP, one was sent separately, the other was added to the first payment. So it could come either way.

Hi @Jamie12345. Can I ask what phone number they gave you please?

I'd recommend that you call PIP directly to check your award.

    Telephone: 0800 917 2222
Relay UK (if you cannot hear or speak on the phone): 18001 then 0800 917 2222
British Sign Language (BSL) video relay service if you’re on a computer - find out how to use the service on mobile or tablet
