Cancelling claim

Hi,

I have recently accepted a part time job and am aware I’d still be entitled to a top up / council tax discounts etc but I’d prefer to cancel my claim as what I’ll be earning id be no worse off than I am on UC. Will they close my claim or pressure me to stay on? Do I need to provide an explanation or simply close my account in the journal?

TIA

    Hi,

There is a specific option for this in the portal. Go to 'Make a Change' and then 'Close my Claim'.

They may ask further questions but they aren't likely to pressure you to stay.

Hi @o126 congratulations on securing a job! 🎉 It's a really tough market at the minute so that's awesome!

They shouldn't pressure you to remain if you don't want to but you might still be entitled to support whilst working part time however that's completely up to you. You can simply request that it's closed down and they should either complete the request, or let you know if they need any further information.

@o126 If they try and bug you into staying, don't just agree to it to shut them up, tell them to touch grass and leave anyway.

I've merged your two posts @o126 as they were very similar so all comments are together 😊
