Inheritance/ impact on UC/ Mortgage

Hi
I am aware of all the UC guidelines on this I am just so anxious. I will try to summarise

house sold in April, funds have 6 months disregard, staying with dad trying to find a home to buy

difficult due to exhaustion

I receive LCWRA UC, standard element and transitional protection plus PIP (I know (PIP is not means tested)

was in process of buying a flat but pulled out due to serious legal concerns with lease

searching weekly

I had a mortgage agreement based on PIP and UC but it expires in 10 weeks

now I am receiving some inheritance from my late uncle

it will be around 6k over the 16k limit for UC

when I report it if my claim is closed I will no longer be able to afford a home because my mortgage is based on having UC

I feel very stressed when I know it’s also a blessing but I am so very very worried and scared

Context - my mum died and I was living in her house with her for a few years before she passed and afterwards too, the house was sold so as to settle her estate and I’m still grieving her and my home. It’s been a hellish 3 years.

Thanks for any help as I don’t know what to say in my journal and I want to try to get a human being to look at this carefully and so as I’m not left without a home.

There likely won't be any grounds for UC to disregard the inheritance from your Uncle.

Have you spoken to your mortgage broker?

I have tried to but he’s not responding. When I asked him previously a few months ago in May he said my mortgage is safe (I still have 4 months left then) and to find something quick. I have been trying so hard to do so.

But not responding the last week to these questions.

Im in the same boat. Waiting for my house to be sold. All the money will be held with the solicitors transferring the money etc. Longs as you tell UC what is happening.

The inheritance i will be getting will be paid into the Morgaged . Therefore its better that rather than money sitting in your bank account

Scary but longs you do it right

Hi, I wondered how you’re doing with your situation?
