Hi

I've bebeen on pip for 10 years in in the LCWRA group also.

I was supposed to have a review in August 2026 but it has been put back to February 2027 which is 5 months away and I've not received any forms yet for the review.

I'm also quite worried about the press and media their attitude towards people who claim pip and benefits this lack ofof their understanding of life with long term health / disability upsets me so much I get quite down about it. I'm 63 years old and worked for 36 years until it became impossible to carry on now im made to feel guilty and ashamed for claiming benefits any future changes or cuts to benefits will causcause mee to have to sell my home I've worked so hard for

I know the attitude is not very nice, but the time to worry is when changes are confirmed, most proposals don't go any further than being proposals it's not worth your energy or getting upset worrying over things which probably won't happen.

I'd recommend not reading articles and blocking certain sources/telling the algorithms not to recommend, turn the TV channel etc.

Hi @kittycat_9. I'm sorry that you feel this way. There is a lot of negative press around those claiming benefits but I believe it is blown out of proportion. The media like to write inflammatory articles that will get people angry and they usually aren't accurate. You have no reason to feel guilty for claiming what you are entitled to. If it makes you feel any better, you mention that you have worked for 36 years, so in that time you have paid into the system and now you are using that system to support you.

As @Kimi87 has said, avoid reading articles about it and focus on more positive things. What things are you interested in?

hello thank you for your welcomed replireplies I have started to turn off news reports and listening to radio discussions. I live alone with no family so I guess this doesn't help as ive no one to talk to orr discuss my thoughts

Hi @kittycat_9, I understand that world news saturation can be too much, it isn't healthy to read and listen to everything.

I still like to keep informed of current affairs these days, but maybe just a précis Is enough, looking more in-depth at one or two matters at a time.

Hi @kittycat_9, I know it can be easier said than done but please try not to worry as those changes have not been confirmed.

They're still at a stage where things are being looked at and challenged by the upcoming recommendation shaping workshops so nothing is set in stone, I hope that eases your anxiety over this a bit😊
