hi all,

I applied for carers element yesterday. I backdated it to the 5th of September as that’s when I started caring for said person. The reason why I did it so late was because I wasn’t actually aware that I could receive it! Will I be backdated for the pay I missed out on?

Also, how long does carers element take to verify?

If they refuse to backdate, you can ask them to look at the decision again (Mandatory Reconsideration). If it remains unchanged, you can appeal to an independent appeal tribunal hearing.
