We have the laptop but we can't afford the technology. The local professionals aren't interested. And so time ticks on...

Very frustrating - there are some sources of funding at the bottom of this page http://www.scope.org.uk/support/disabled-people/independent-living/equipment or you could try searching for grants at http://www.scope.org.uk/grants
I hope you find something, Alex

Thanks for that Alex. We have looked at some of the sources before but will check out a few more.

Hello Steve,
What technology are you looking for funding for? -
We've been looking at Tobii eye gaze stuff but have been unable to (a) get the local professionals to do a proper assessment and (b) find the money should it be worthwhile going that far.
-
Take a look at the ACE Centre. They have hubs in the North and South of the UK, and can point you in the right direction for a professional assessment and help with funding. If the NHS have been of no help they also offer a one hour information day appointment which you can get more information about here.
I hope this helps, thank you for posting on the Scope Community Page. -
Thanks very much.
