Any type of advice /help available

After a active healthy life over night took my husbands life upside down. With finding out with Ataxia and under research Geoff is now severely blind deaf speech paralysed hip down with spinal. There are no cures only research to stop it. He as to travel 21 hr round trip to see Geoff s professor regular. The distance is beginning to take it's toll as we had to stop the car and a air ambulance was called at the moment he is stable but he can not keep doing this. Can you advice / help in any way please
