Im trying to get my 20 year old son Esa. He has aspergers syndrome he has limited understanding. But the gp will not give us a sick note as he font understsnd autism. Told me find him a job. He neefs prompting at everything he does. I do 90% of what he needs. So he couldnt work. How can i help him plz.

    Has your son had an official diagnosis? Does he see any specialists who could help you? Are you getting any other support?

    Many years ago as a child he saw specialist but not any more. My gp is useless hes a new gp but rude on asd and aspergers theres nothing on the screen therefor my lad is quite as normal as the other 20 yr olds go out get a job. But he only as the capability as a 10 year old i need to prompt him to do stuff so he does it.

    I'm sorry to hear this @ammy1970, you must have been so frustrated at that response. I'd really recommend getting a second opinion from another GP: you are entitled to do so, and having a different GP involved could mean that you get the support you're looking for. Let us know how you get on!
