From DLA to PIP

Hi, my son was on standard care DLA. He was advised by the hospital to apply for the mobility part of DLA as his condition had worsened. He asked DWP to look at his claim again and was told that it would be a PIP claim, he was not awarded either and his payment stopped in July 2017. He appealed and eventually went to a Tribunal on 24th January and was awarded enhanced mobility and standard care PIP. As DWP have not appealed the tribunal decision, will this mean that my son will get a backdated payment from July (he is unsure because he was originally on DLA and it will now be PIP). Thanks for any help.

Hello Sally64, so pleased to hear your son's good news. I am new to this group  so someone with more knowledge than me will give you an answer.  All the best stay safe in this bitter weather.

It usually takes DWP 5-8 weeks to put an award into payment

Thank you Matilda that's very helpful and thanks all for your comments. He hasn't heard anything since the Tribunal. We thought we would leave it around 6 weeks and see what happens. Will stay in touch and let you know the outcome.

Just an update...my son was called last Thursday by DWP and asked for his bank details and was told a letter was on its way and that payment would be paid into his account today for his claim, which it was!

This proves the system works even if you have to take things further through a MR or Tribunal, so happy for you.
