Clumsy when cooking

Does anyone else keep burning themselves when cooking. I've got four burns on my hands , one of them I managed to burn twice in the same place. Covered in little blisters and the one I done twice really made me jump. God knows how I keep doing this you would think once would teach me a lesson. The kitchen is a favourite for dropping things. I dropped my Victoria sponge I'd lovingly created. It was a delicate light sponge that my dogs chuffed down . Least they were happy
