I am the mum on an amazing 3 year old boy diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy

Hi everyone,
I am the mum on an amazing 3 year old boy diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy Right side Hemiplegic, Developmental (including speech). He was born very premature and life expectancy was 20%! Here we are almost 4 years on. I have just resigned from my work to concentrate on him and getting him ready for reception in September 2018. I am so scared of being out of work but I know it IS the right thing right now.
I feel like I have to fight every one at every state just to get anything done.
We have an educational health and care plan now but I am so scared of everything right now.
I would like to meet people in my shoes and share stores and information and what financial help is out there.

Hello @Ruhia, and a warm welcome to the community. Good to have you with us.
We have a thread dedicated to CP where you might find some useful conversations and resources, so please have a look and see. And I'm going to tag our CP specialist, @Richard_Scope, since I know he will want to respond.
Other members will be in touch with you in due course.
My late daughter had CP, but that was among many other conditions, and if there is anything you would like to chat about as one parent to another I would be glad to hear from you.
The very best of luck in the on-going battle,
Warmest best wishes,
Richard1 -
Welcome to the community @Ruhia I hope you'll enjoy it here, we have lots of member who are parents to disabled children.
You might like to look at the benefits calculator to get an idea of what you could be entitled to.
We also have lots of information for families of disabled preschool children here, I look forward to chatting with you1 -

Great to meet you!
I am really happy to read that your son is doing well. Firstly, although this is a scary time for you I think that you have a great attitude! As @JennysDad has mentioned and my colleague @Sam_Scope there is a wealth of experience in the Community and I'm sure you will find a lot of it useful. As a starting point, I will include some links to some information I think will be helpful:Here is the link to the DLA (Disability Living Allowance) ‘how to’ pack. https://contact.org.uk/media/1172324/claiming_dla_for_children.pdf
