My daughter is 20 years old.She has Downs Syndrome and learning difficulties.Since 2015 she has had a personal budget. In October she was awarded Pip at the enhanced rate and Mobility rate as well, she was previously on DLA at the high rate and mobility the lower rate.Out of the blue I get a letter stating they have done a financial assessment on her and now she has to pay £75 a week towards her care. Has anybody else been through this?

Hi @linky
There is some great information about assessments, independant living and care here that might help.
As Mike says, local councils deal with things in differnt ways so that can cause some confusion.
How are you getting on?0 -
Hi,
Thank you for the information, however, I can not understand why Sarah has a assessment for a personal budget and then to be told she has to pay nearly half of her personal budget to fund her own care!

Hi @linky, it sounds as though this is something that needs to be communicated to your local council. If you're comfortable disclosing your location, I'd be happy to try and find a point of contact for you?0

Hi @linky, I've found some contact details for Adult Social Care which may be worth a try, and also your local council contact page. Have a look, and please do let us know how you get on. I really hope you can get to the bottom of things.0
