Accessibility travel guide

Hi everyone. I work for Premier Inn and I am busy creating a UK wide accessibility guide. I understand that those with disabilities love to travel as much as everyone else, but are sometimes let down by places where their needs aren’t catered for. We’re creating a travel guide that enables people with disabilities, and their carers, to plan their ideal adventure.

To create the most useful guide possible, we first need to identify the challenges people face. In so doing we can find solutions to these needs and provide the most relevant, insightful guide possible.

I would really appreciate your help, so we can make the UK a more inclusive place.

Hi @RJHM and welcome to the community! Are you creating a guide for the rooms you have or the venues that are near your hotels?

It will not be focused on the hotel/rooms at all. This is a national travel guide, and will encompass as many areas as possible. The aim is to promote access and provide a public service.

No problem at all @RJHM! This sounds so interesting! Have you heard of the AccessAble app? This looks at something similar which may be of interest to you

@Chloe_Scope we have indeed taken a look at their app and its fab, what we are interested in is the stuff that no one is used to having but would love to have. For example I have suggested including virtual tours of multiple,  'accessible' restaurants as everyone has a different accessibility need. Moreover, even if a building, particularly a restaurant is labelled as 'accessible', the inability to see the layout inside may mean you end up sitting somewhere you feel uncomfortable, or in the way. So we're looking for people's bad experiences or something they wish was better, so we can reactively solve the problem

Is your service the same as Euans Guide? Or something different?

All of the guides around at the moment including Euans guide seem to be one dimensional. Euans guide doesnt work as well as it should and doesnt Express a personalised view of accessibility. We are looking for suggestions and ideas, not comparisons.

Are you covering the whole country or not? Is there a way to provide feedback on the guide or not? It could be a really useful resource for special needs families like mine. Can I download it or not?
