If it is contribution based how cone its means tested?

I receive contributiin based ESA.
My question is if its contribution based how come its means tested as surely it relies on what you have paid into the system.
At the moment I receive £16 every other week.

Hi,If you're claiming a pension then anything over £85 per week is classed as income when calculating Contributions based ESA.If you're not receiving a pension then are you sure you're not receiving Income Related ESA? Which group are you in for ESA?0
