I am visually impaired which to me is technical is a health issue as it is treatable but not necessarily curable. It is disabilitaing as I have to have things to help me to do every day stuff and it not cheap. Also society make life disabilitaing for my vision
I also I have Dyspraxia (self diagnosis) which as I know is s learning difficulties but many on Facebook days it is disability. My dyspraxia don't stop me doing something, I just have do them in a different way. It is people attitudes towards me when I do things differently which is disabilitaing.

Hi @Harp, this often can come down to what you identify with. It also can be what model of disability you also relate to.
At Scope we choose to follow the social model of disability. Here is an article about disability models that you may find interesting. The model says that people are disabled by barriers in society, not by their impairment or difference. Barriers can be physical, like buildings not having accessible toilets. Or they can be caused by people's attitudes to difference, like assuming disabled people can't do certain things. Here's a video that may explain it better:

I'm glad you found it useful, and thank you for bringing it up. I'm sure a lot of members will be able to relate to what you are saying!1

I sure they will.
Should this be part of education system so we can remove the barriers easier in the future?0 -
I definitely agree with you here!
Scope do Role Model talks which are educational sessions in secondary schools. Part of the session does go over the social model.

As someone with learning difficulties and bring visually impaired I need little help like reading my bills and help me out and about etc. But I don't get the help due to my disabilities are apparently too thou they happy to send me from one organisation to another. I don't fit in the the 2 sections.
Yes I know it down to money but where that leave and many others in the same situation0 -
That`s a tough one. xx0
