Hi all
Just wondering if anyone else would be interested in this information: you may be able to get a disabled person's railcard and coach card, 50% discount off road tax, CEA card for cinemas, access card for visitor attractions.  Worth looking into especially if you get PIP. The travel discount cards also help you apply for travel assistance if you need it.

For the travel cards search National Express coach card, National Rail, apply to the DVLA for a discount attaching your PIP award letter, search CEA card and access card and follow the instructions.

It will depend what benefits you receive to be able to claim any of those discounts. Disabled rail card here, but there's a small charge for this. https://www.disabledpersons-railcard.co.uk/are-you-eligible/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIg6_x486i5QIVEOR3Ch39gQlpEAAYASABEgL44_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

For the 50% reduction in road tax you need a standard mobility award of PIP. If you claim this then the vehicle must only be used for the purpose of the disabled person. https://www.disabledmotoring.org/motoring/road-tax-50-reduction

I use my CEA card often. It`s really worth it even if it does cost £6 a year. It gets 2 of us into the cinema for £4.99

That will totally depend on the criteria of the local council that you live in.

Some great information here guys! I have a disabled railcard and an CEA card - both have been very helpful!

Please be sure to check these are valid where you live as the criteria can all be different. :)

I think the passenger assistance scheme for trains is a brilliant idea - all the staff who have helped me have gone way beyond and above their call of duty.

My son has serious bowel and bladder issues. A few months ago I applied for a card from the bowel and bladder foundation. That is also helpful. You can also apply to the family fund for grants as well.

The family fund is for those with children under the age of 18 only. https://www.familyfund.org.uk/
