There was a chat about this recently and I said I get it with my Direct Payments.
Just been told the rules have changed..in a way I cannot believe!
I used it to pay for me and a carer to take short breaks and her wages above a normal daily cost.
Now It has to be used for carer`s accom, travel, food BUT not mine...mine has to come out of my own pocket!!!!!!!!!
EEh? What`s that about? I cant afford to do it like that.
I am changing my respite to respite care homes now as they will pay for that!!
tata seaside places.

I've been getting it for 12 years and have never been allowed to use it to pay for myself other than to pay or a care home stay so my carer can have a break or to use to hire a local carer while I am away or to pay someone who comes away with me to cover my care needs but not to pay for their travel, food or accommodation costs nor to pay for the costs for me to fo away myself1

Thanks Jean.....your funding is like what mine has changed to I think.
But initially it wasn't like that...so many rule changes to digest!
best wishes xxx
