Greetings all,
I'm currently in receipt of universal credit for 7months, I've had M.E for 5 years but just got diagnosed. My mobility and cognitive function has gotten worse.
I recently received the uc50 form in the post.
Just wondering of M.E is automatically considered a disability and what should I add to the questionnaire.
This is all new and confusing. I don't have anyone to help so I'd be greatful for direction.
Thanks in advance

HI,The work capability assessment isn't about a diagnosis, it's how those conditions affect your ability to do any type of work and this is what they will assess you on.When filling out the form you need to put as much information about how your conditions affect you as possible. Adding some real life examples will also help. You need to make sure you send evidence to support your claim with the forms because they rarely contact anyone for this. You also need to make sure the form is returned and received no later than the date stated, failure to return it on time and you could be found fit for work. This link may help you with filling out the form.

Thanks Poppy for your reply.
I fully understand it not about a diagnosis but the affect it has on your daily abilities.
I spoke to the team lead / occupational therapist at the local ME ward so now I know what to send in support of the questionnaire.
Best regards
