Pip assessment report

77117711 Member Posts: 5 Listener
Ive never done this before so sorry if sounds like rambles 🙈 today a got my written assessment for my pip claim I didn’t have to have a F2F as it was all done through my psychologist, most of the assessment seems fair but on one question the descriptor ticked does not match the written comments by the Nurse assessing, it’s ticked that I can engage with people unaided but in comments says due to I have heightened anxiety and struggles with social engagement as evidenced by psychologist and therefore is medically reasonable to suggest I need prompting to be able to engage unaided, I don’t understand why that could be written but that box isn’t ticked, does anyone know if this will affect claim and if I need to ask someone to ring them, I’m still waiting on decision atm

    Thanks @thespiceman for the tag.

    Hi @7711

Firstly putting aside that descriptor/activity you mentioned. Have you added up the points that are recommended in the report? They won't be added up in this because they are just recommendations. You need to look at the PIP descriptors, compare the report against them. I usually find the PIP self test is the easiest way to do this because you can transfer the dots from the report into the self test and it will add up what points you may have scored.

The activity/descriptor in question is part of the daily living, if you've already scored 12 points without this then there would be no need to question the error that seems to have happened.

Once you've added those points up please do come back and let us know what points it recommends. PIP self test here.

If I count the actual circled ones It’s 11 points for daily living and 12 for the mobility just based on one question but the extra dot would make it 12 for daily living I think it’s in the description underneath the circled part that states I can’t do it unaided not just in the full report part so I didn’t know if the wrong box had been ticked or if they’d read the underneath reasons for ticking/not ticking, thank you for you help

Hello @7711   Thank you for reply. Thank you to @poppy123456 my friend hope the lady has helped with any of the links provided.
Please can I suggest I know you having a lot of treatment and referrals to people who can help you there is no problems looking at other support.
Only by accessing other support you could have had some assistance, asked any questions. For your benefit assessment.
The report you have, even this had this myself.
Discussing with one of the charities mentioned. They intervened on my behalf because I had a situation long time of constantly being reassessed every 18 months.
One assessor says I am fit sign on zero points . A year signing on and my mental health effected badly, then 18 months later another assessment says medical assessor unfit and so on backwards, forwards.  Considerable time doing a lot of damage mentally and trauma.
Not helping me. I am truly grateful for their insights and guidance.
I would also add the benefit system a lot of complexities, confusion and only by finding the right answers, the advice from various charities. You can have peace of mind if you can.
One other point the treatment what ever you have I hope it helps. I learnt a long time ago just small steps. Take notes, make a plan to use education and knowledge to use in any of your mental health issues.
One of the mains aspects of any treatment or recovery process is to you coping on your own.
With coping methods, strategies and have structures in place to help you.
I know this is a good idea but it does not always work out. Day to days can be difficult. Trauma, triggers past memories can rear it head any times.
I would just say find what is best for you.  If you want to ask me and anything. Please do have mental health myself and a past history of addiction. Clean and do help a members with mental health issues, plus have a disability. Have a lot of knowledge, education of mental health and wellbeing.
Please can I wish the best, keep safe and warm. If I or my friend @poppy123456 can help will be here . Just tag our names like I have done.
    With yours .
Your not alone, your a member of our community glad to help.

Hi @7711 and a very warm welcome to the community. :)

    How are you today?

Thank you for taking the time to share this with us and you most certainly were not rambling. :)

These marks are a suggestion from the assessor and therefore is not necessarily the decision you will get. The decision maker will read the report and suggest points. It is rare that they go against the initial decision but like you said, the content suggests you meet the criteria.

I wish you the very best of luck and please do let us know how you get on. :)

    @thespiceman
thank you, yes I agree more and did feel rent support can always be a great help!
I had similar situation before I applied in 2016 and had a F2F but received 0 points they stated as I was at the time in uni they basically didn’t believe the issues and then not long after I dropped out through my illnesses getting worse and worse I tried to have a year out but wasn’t allowed to claim anything bar child tax because I was still classed as uni student and my student burserys stopped I wasn’t well enough to go back at the time so I had know no choice but to withdraw fully it’s was heartbraking but I just couldn’t see a way out , that’s why my psychologist did all the reports ghis
time and I sent as much evidence from different people going back for years and years before even then I’m hoping this time is much different for that reason.

I’m sorry you had to go through all that also it really is so unfair

i know I’ve tried so many different therapies and meds have multiple diagnosis  I just want to feel able to be myself and your right small steps and get there I use to just make myself do things people seemed to expect me be able to and it just made me worse I’m learning to except I need to give myself time to heal

thank you for your support I really do appreciate it and I hope things go well for you also
