Hello @MysterE and welcome to the community!!
Just wanted to pop up and say Hi, although I am no scooter expert... my suggestion would to contact the DVLA to see if they could help you with your legal rights? Or contact the warranty/those who made the bike?0 -
I would add that the Green Power scooter is an amazing piece of kit and is great value at £1690 for the basic model and with the optional extras I had was a little under £2k.0
-
Hi @MysterE, have you managed to find something suitable?

MysterE said:Has anyone experienced the use of a Green Power scooter running at the designed speed of 15 mph which is the legal speed limit outside the UK. I want to use my scooter on private land that is not subject to the normal road regulations, and I have contacted the manufacturer to find out the procedure for switching the 3 gear on, and they insist that I sign away my rights regarding the warranty on the scooter, saying it is a modification. Take the machine across the channel to France and there are no questions asked but here in the UK I have to give up my rights to a warranty.1

When my ZT4 was delivered. 2 years ago. Green Power made me sign a bit of paper saying I was going to use the scooter in France. After a ride of some 8 miles with my cycling mates chasing after me we then joined up with some walkers after about 3 miles the scooter "packed up". back at home an engineer came and tried various substitutions of components with no luck. They sent me a new replacement scooter which now shows 598 miles on the clock, done mainly at 15 mph. On both scooters there was a switch tied to the rear axle that "armed" the 3rd. 15 mph switch position. there was no discussion on the effect on warranty.

On a green power bz500 there is a wire hanging down under the rear right body casing with a switch flick it the other way it will do 15mph. Bare in mind it is illegal unless on private ground in the UK1

Hi my name is Razr (Rhodes) Thanks all, I have a brand new JH500, and the switch hidden away does allow it to do 15mph yeeha, my question is, can it actually do a 45-mile range on 1 charge in reality, I would love to be able to go and see my Mum who lives out in the sticks, My Invacare Orion has no chance even with its new batteries and apparently can do 26 mile on 1 charge, i would appreciate any advise or even others experiences with these new style scooters.

I have the Fastest with Lithium Batteries and I have done 27 miles at 15mph. That's about all it will do which is still impressive!

what amperage are your lithium batteries or lithium power pack as what I believe Green power sells, I have been looking at LifePo4 batteries and they are the same size as the lead acid or AGM batteries but have an Amperage of 30 Ah and are much lighter which should give more range. 60v 30Ah instead of 60v 20Ah
Also, I was doing 15mph and went over a pothole in the road, it won't do 15 mph anymore, it is behaving just as it did when I bought it new (4,8,10), is there a safety switch or button to reset it, it seems to have gone into a safety mode, I will stay away from potholes in future the scooter don't like them

Problem solved, there is an LED connected to 2 wires i removed it then put it back switched ignition on it flashed once in red and 15mph was restored

I think they are the standard 20Ah ones.. I have 2 of them again like i had before. I went down a hill and the scooter started to scream at me and then it Emergency braked. I was stunned. This new one is so different that my last one. This one shows the Voltage and the trip distance on the same screen. I also have the Canopy and it rattles like mad but apparently that's normal

I see. I wish we could remove that and take a pic to get the warranty back. My canopy came with a broken clip so I am just waiting for them to come and replace it. It was not even secure when I got it and it blew off in the wind!

The power pack you have cost £500?, the system I am going to do is going to cost £300 (5 Batteries the same size as the AGM) plus the 60v lithium charger, straight swap for the lead acid AGM batteries, giving me an extra 10Ah, probably the equivalent to an extra 15 miles if I have my math correct, I will post the outcome when it is done with real-time measurements, distance/speed etc.
Are we allowed to post pictures of say our scooters and things we have built or modded?
I love customizing and modifying things to be better and unique and would love to be able to share my pictures.
I have built a custom trailer, it is 200Ltr, weatherproof and has a tow bar for my JH500, it uses a proper tow hitch, it is just a smaller version of a proper car one, Very strong and flexible.
I weigh 13 stone but my scooter can work with 37 max, so I am utilising its abilities more, i can carry my tools for repairing people's scooters etc and go to them.

I had to check everything on my scooter as I found loose nuts and bolts, It is all good now as I have been through it all and did it all myself, my next mission is to waterproof the electrics as they are just standard connectors (having an issue with indicators and the weather) I have not complained to Green Power as I myself still think it's an amazing scooter for the price of £1400 and I have the ability, experience to be able to, the parts are mostly motorcycle and Escooter making it cheaper and easier to fix or repair and modify to the way you want it to be, removing the disability stigma, especially for the younger generation like my son who has cerebral palsy, he does not like to think he is disabled or others to treat him as such, He is very strong-minded

Hi folks, my ZT4 has done 1174 miles mainly @ 15mph. 2nd set of lead batteries fitted I think it would struggle to do more than 20/25 miles on one charge.

The whole reason I am converting mine to LifePO4 batteries, the 45-mile range I reckon is for going at 8mph and I want mine to do 40 miles at 15mph, which is not impossible from what I have worked out so far, lead acid are so far behind in current teq as far as batteries are concerned, LifePo4 batteries are what are used in Ecars and can be used in Mobility scooters with some easy conversions
@uchitermon, what do you think of your ZT4 so far, is that the 3-wheeler version?

Hi all. is the following comment for the GP500 PLEASE ?.
There are 2 wires under the seat box, white with blue stripes on a connector, just bridge the 2 together with a piece of wire,be carefull as they are very fast in speed3.

@Duddsy23 yes, there should be 2 wires white and white/blue with a switch on the end cable tied to the chassis, switch to the on position. If there is no switch but the wires are there then all you have to do is bridge the connection, make sure you insulate with appropriate tape as it is a live wire and could ark if it makes contact with any metal, PLEASE bare in mind it will be doing twice its normal speed and can tip over if cornering too hard
