Hi
I have been on Dla then pip for many years. Firstly for depression, anxiety, psoriasis and self harm. The last few years psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia have been added to my claim. My last 2 face to face assessments were fine, no problems continuing.  A few weeks ago I had a telephone assessment  and then I got a phone call from housing benefit saying I now have to pay rent as my pip has been stopped!
I was a mess at this news, could not understand why.
Apparently a paramedic did my report and he wrote things that I did not say. My brother has written a letter asking for a reconsideration as he cannot understand why someone over the phone who has never met me could decide on my mental state and the pain I am in.
No reply yet. Apart from not being able to sleep with chronic back pain and restless leg syndrome..my anxiety is through the roof..so tearful all the time.
I just don't understand how they can do this.
Has anyone else had this happen?

@littlewendy good evening and welcome to scope, firstly its important at this stage to say that all is far from lost, a reconsideration is the first step and if that fails an appeal should be done with which I would suggest you get some help with from welfare rights or similar.
It's important to note that PIP isn't about what wrong with you but what care and/or mobility issues you have v the descriptors.
Your time would be well spent now reading up and preparing to appeal.
How many points did you score for daily living and for mobility?
Should you need further help please don't hesitate to ask here for it.

Thats the strangest thing..he gave me 0 points on everything. The only other time I lost dla years ago was when I only got 9 points. That was also the only time I had gone in alone..my daughter was in the waiting room. Every other time my brother has been there for physical and mental health support. I was in bed with horrible back pain when he phoned for the assessment.
    I really don't understand 0 points.

I won't lie, he asked me about bath and toilet needs...I am in pain getting in the bath but I live with 2 of my sons aged 30 and 33 ..both have aspergers, eldest not so bad, he cooks and cleans as best as he can. They don't do touching or socialising outside home...if it ever came to that point I will be gone.
My brother said so it seems if you can bath yourself and wipe your own bum..your not entitled!
Not sure I can go through this again, its a big effort to even get out of bed and have a bath. My hair has all fallen out again. So tired.

    Hi and welcome

Sorry to hear you have lost your PIP

The mr can take a while before you get a decision can be 8 weeks due to backlogs

Also majority of Mr come back with same decision but not in all cases depends on how much detail was in it about your daily living.  Best advice is to give 2 real examples of what happens when you try and do the task

Fingers crossed for you let us know how you get on

Thankyou janer1967..not sure I can go on much longer. I need to make sure my boys will be okay. I have power of attorney on Jordans pip serious aspergers because he won't leave the house to open a bank account. Jake got carers to look after me, but he also looks after Jordan. So I need to make sure power of attorney can go to Jake and he can get carers for Jordan. Also make sure he can get housing benefit and house signed over to them.
