Partner waiting 6 weeks is it worth phoning for update?

Hi my partner has been waiting just over 6 weeks and not heard back from carers allowance yet. Is it worth him giving them a call for a update just to see where we are at?

The last time he spoke to them they said we was with a assessor and that was about 10 days ago
