Is there anywhere in Berkshire where I can pay for residential/day care for our disabled daughter?

Interesting to hear about respite support being taken away . Whilst our EHCP indicated respite care I was informed later that it was given in error. This was really frustrating given our requirement for this based on our daughters tantrums and impact on her sibling. I have appealed but it's fallen on deaf ears . Do you know of anywhere in Berkshire where I can pay for residential care or day care for our special needs daughter ? The situation at home is becoming increasingly challenging now . Thanks

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've had accessing respite care.  If you visit your local authority's 'Local Offer' webpage, it should give details of all nearby residential/day care services.  For instance, this is the Local Offer for West Berkshire.

Also, if you haven't already, you can ask for a needs assessment and carers assessment from your local authority to help identify and implement the support needed for both you and your daughter.  For more information visit:

In addition to this, I wondered if you'd be interested in Scope's Navigate: emotional support service.  This is a free online programme designed to help care-givers of disabled children with the following: 

• organising your thoughts and feelings

• taking positive actions and helping you with emotional wellbeing
