AID TO STANDING UP
sunset709
Community member Posts: 5 Listener
have a neurological condition which has not been diagnosed but could be MND.
At present I can walk with a walker but my problem is standing up from sitting position. At home I have a riser chair and a riser bed. But when I go out I need
increasing assistance to get out of the car or from outside seats and benches.
I have little arm strength so car grab rails do not help. Also swivel cushions do not help as I can get my feet onto the ground.. I need something that rises me up.
Any suggestions.
Thanks

Hi @sunset709 Welcome to the community!
I'm sorry that you haven't had an answer to your query yet. I've marked your post as unanswered so that other members may be able to find and answer your post more easily.
Have you spoken to your GP to see whether they have any suggestions? Have you considered speaking to an occupation therapist (OT)? -
Hi @sunset709 how you doing? Sorry didn't notice your post before. As tori said above an OT would be very useful to ask.
I have looked for you and found this item that may be of help, link below

Hi@sunset709. There is a company called CuraSeating which you may find useful. Hope that helps with your decision making.

Hi, how are you today? I have seen rising cushions, that work in a similar way to the rising chairs. This may use useful to have in your car, however these are expensive so I would recommend seeing an OT (occupational therapist) to see what they can offer for you.Poppy_Community Volunteer Host with a passion for reading.
