Hi everyone

I applied for PiP April and had assessment mid August still not heard anything and been told that they have  the assessment but waiting for Decision maker to see it as have back log . I do have a few questions if anyone on hear can  Please help xx

What is the time you have had to wait from assessment to decision ?

I'm just wondering if they will message / text me saying it's with the decision makers or not

How quickly do they make the decision ( if they do send messages and they send at say 9am saying it's with the decision makers if they say yes you can have pip will the back payment be in the account same day or. Do I get told in the letter about the start of payments ?

The waiting is really stressing me out sorry if it seams gobbledygook what I've said but Im just wondering if anyone is able to tell me try and put my mind at ease thank you xx

Hi @JH32 - I just wanted to welcome you to the community. I had my assessment before the pandemic, so things are really taking a while longer now. We hear that the average wait to get a decision following an assessment is 8 weeks unfortunately. People sometimes get a text to say the DWP has received the assessor's report, but there's not a further one to say when a decision maker has then got it.
If awarded PIP, then the decision letter will tell you how much you'd be paid, & when the payments would start. As there are also postal delays, it often happens that you get money into your bank account (if awarded) before getting a decision letter.
I'm sorry you're finding the wait stressful, but, if you can, the best thing to do is forget about your claim for a while yet.
