They confirmed they've had my form since Dec, but I haven't heard anything. How long does it take?

I have been sending my sicknotes in since July 21 for capability to work, I have filled my form in and the people dealing with it have confirmed that they have had my form since 10th December 2021 but it's now the 4th of February and I've not heard a thing. I have called numerous times but they are just plain rude and very unhelpful. How long does it usually take??

Unfortunately the process is taking anything up to 10 months or longer

People are waiting approx 6 months for an assessment and then 3 months for a decision

Obviously some are lucky and get it sorted.sooner

Hi,
Does anyone know if they are backdating money owed please ?? I've heard different things from my work coach at UC first she told me they don't backdate it and now all of a sudden they are backdating. I'm confused and panicking because I'm in so much debt and can't see a way out of it

If LCWRA is awarded the UC law has always said that it is backdated to the fourth full assessment period after the health condition is reported. Nothing has changed. The only time it is not backdated is if it is a review initiated by DWP in which case the new decision only applies from the date of the decsision.

Have you had the decision yet? When you posted a couple of weeks ago you said you were still waiting to hear something. If you haven't then your work coach may have meant if found to have LCW then there's no extra money each month so nothing to backdate.

I haven't heard anything yet about an assessment so not sure I'm even going to get one. My work coach is literally useless, whenever I complain about the time it's taking she kinda laughs it off and says 'well u could always go out and get a job lauryn' Not helpful at all. I'm going to call people dealing with the form today and see if I can get any information out of them but I doubt it

To be fair it's not your work coaches fault that there's huge backlogs. Although they shouldn't have said what they did.

There's huge backlogs and lots of people are waiting almost a year.

No, it's not her fault but her attitude is her fault. Called the assessment people tobe told that it's been sent back to universal credit for decision, called UC they haven't got a clue what I'm talking about and there's nothing on my file. I literally give up

If it's been returned then this suggests a paper based assessment has been completed. Of course either one that you spoke to today could have given you the wrong information.

When you ring UC you are speaking to someone from a call centre, who are just reading from a screen. You could put a message onto your journal to tell them that you spoke to the Health Assessment Advisory Service today and you were told the assessment report has been returned and could they please chase it up for you.

The person I spoke to has sent an email to a case manager for them to get back to me by 13th March as there was nothing on my file about it being sent back. I have also left a message on my journal.
Is the paper assessment instead of a phonecall assessment ? I'm so confused by it all. I get the distinct impression that no one really gives a monkeys whenever I have called so it's quite possible that they have given out the wrong info

Paper based assessments are completed when there's enough of information to write the report without needing an assessment. They are rare but some do have them.

Hi all, UC confirmed yesterday that they have awarded me my LCW. They have said that my claim is awarded from 3 months after the first time i told them about my health condition, Is this my first sick note ? As they have told me anything else just to wait for another email. Thanks x

If you have been found to have LCW there is no extra money for this. There is only extra money if you have been found to have LCWRA.

You need to check to see exactly what the decision letter says. For LCWRA it will say Limited Capability for work Related Activity.

All decision letters say "the extra money is awarded from 3 months after you gave evidence, if we owe you any money then you will hear within 7 days"

If you're not happy with the decision you can request the Mandatory Reconsideration (MR)
