We had a gas fire in our home but i could not light it due to having to bend down to it which is not safe for me. We were planning on buying a remote control fire but they wanted like an extra £400 - £500 extra on a standard gas fire.
So, we came across a clever gas fire where the switch is on the side and high up. I have never seen one of these before, but it allows people to operate it without having to really bend down. You can turn it on or off and change the heat setting.
If anyone is struggling with their gas fire because they cannot bend down, then i will post its name. This gas fire which will be fitted next week will give that little bit more independence

That sounds good I'm always looking for things to limit bending.0

I recall that when I was younger those old box type gas fires (usually with timber top and sides and those white mesh diffusers on the front) often had the controls on the top of the box.0
