I have had a letter today to say that our mortgage is being moved to another company. we have been with them for 15 years. our rate sadly is 5.13. when we got the mortgage i was working but now i am on PIP etc and my wife who is 65 retires in six months. We have 9 years left and the mortgage has been transfered to someone called pepper uk ltd.

I am just wondering if it is worth paying a mortgage broker to see if i can get a better deal and move my mortgage somewhere else. i am shocked at the letter i have received which says my mortgage will be moved in a couple of weeks, this is the first we have heard about it.

It says it will be up to the new company what rate we pay so i am worried about that.

Out of interest who was the original lender and why have they sold your mortgage to a new one?

As far as re-mortgaging on benefits, thats not easy, some lenders might consider it many won't.
Finally most lenders now will want to see a mortgage paid off by the time you are 70.

Although looking at pepper ltd they currently offer mortgages upto 75 with "earned income" i.e not benefit income, but I couldn't see what rates they offer.

we were with kensingtons. We were put with them by a broker 15 years ago who then did a vanishing act. the new company is pepper uk ltd. never even heard of them. The letter says that we with others have had the mortgage transfered to them.

You can find details of pepper uk online, what I couldn't find on their site was interest details, but I'm sure a quick phone call on Monday will get the answers you need

thank you. i have sent my mortgage company a message going mad at them. i am waiting for a responce from them. i think it is shocking that a company can give you two weeks notice about having a new lender
