I'm so sorry to hear about your anxiety, take a deep breath.
when you ready tell us why you've got to go on the bus.

I'm sure some of the other members will greet you soon.

Hello @Beam_Violet that's okay, what about it worries you most?

The mental health charity Mind has lots of advice on self-care for anxiety which might be worth a read now for you.

What support are you getting at the moment for your mental health? Is it something you've talked about with your GP before?

If there's anything I can help with let me know.

    Alex

A warm welcome to the community from me too @Beam_Violet :) How are you doing today?

Thank you for being so honest in your first post. I used to find getting public transport really difficult. I've found that my anxiety surrounding it has decreased as I've gotten more used to it, and I don't find it so bad now, especially when it's a journey I'm familiar with.

Would you mind telling us a little bit more about what you think might be causing the anxiety? Is it leaving the house in general, or specific to getting a bus?

Hi @Beam _Violet welcome I used to have massive panic and anxiety attacks not just on a bus ,but waiting or a bus passing me on the road even though I was as far away as I could get from a bus, it took months of adversion therapy with a specialist before I could go anywhere near a bus yet alone on a bus, such a frightening time then. It was baby steps, but I got there. I still now sometimes get a little surge if a bus stops quickly but other wise I'm in control not the fear.

Hi @Beam_violent, sorry just had to correct a bit of what I wrote. It was not months of adversion therapy . It was months of cognitive Behavioural Therapy with a specialist.sorry.

I too struggle with buses and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. I get a taxi if I do go out and I am so lucky they’re quite cheap where I live.
