New on here😁 my Daughter switched over from DLA to PIP as she was turning 16 last Sept. Sent the forms in beginning Sept and we has her claim confirmed beginning of March. Will she be awarded a back dated amount and if yes I'm presuming it will be the difference between her dla & new pip award yes? Many thanks

    Hi,

I'm afraid you're not correct here. When transferring from DLA to PIP there's no backdated money, even if the PIP award is higher.
First PIP payment is about 7 weeks from the date the decision is made. In the meantime, you'll receive one last DLA payment. The PIP award letter will have given you all the details regarding the PIP payments.

Hello @rachy72 and welcome to the community, it's great to have you join us :)

Thanks for your query, I'm not sure it can be backdated. Can you tell me if you completed your PIP claim within 4 weeks of being asked by the DWP?

When the DWP asks you to make a claim for PIP, you have four weeks to start your PIP claim. If you start your PIP claim within four weeks, your DLA will keep being paid until your PIP claim has been decided.

If you do not start your PIP claim within four weeks, your DLA payments will stop. The DWP will ask you again to claim PIP and give you another four weeks. If you start your PIP claim before the final deadline, your DLA will be paid again until your PIP claim has been decided.

Does that make sense? If anything is still unclear please do let me know.

    Alex

I read it that the DLA payments continued.

It's not backdated when transferring from DLA.
